5 Benefits of Replacing Your Roof

5 Benefits of Replacing Your Roof

Replacing your roof is certainly no small decision, but there are several reasons to consider replacing your roof sooner rather than later. If you’re not sure if it’s time to replace your roof, be sure to check out our post: Is it Time to Replace My Roof? If you think it’s time to take the plunge, here are a few perks that help make the decision a little bit easier.

You’ll get a higher resale value.

Let’s start with the bottom line: replacing your roof means you can sell your home for more than you would be able to if you sell it with the current roof. Why? Because it’s not cheap, and if a buyer knows they’ll have to replace the roof sooner rather than later, it gives them less incentive to make a serious offer on your house.

It’ll make your home more energy efficient.

Older roofs allow air to flow in and out of your home, which can lead to discomfort and higher utility bills. Replacing your roof will provide your home with better insulation, keeping your home and your finances more comfortable in the long run.

A new roof means an instant and significant boost in curb appeal.

Whether you’re getting ready to sell your house or you’re just tired of being the neighbor with the streaky, worn out roof, a replacement is bound to make a huge impact on your curb appeal. If you want a bit of a facelift for your home, you can paint the shutters. If you want it to look 20 years younger and totally refreshed, it’s time for a roof replacement.

Eliminate costly surprises.

If you decide to go ahead and replace your roof, you can create time to budget, plan, and save up for your new roof rather than waiting until something caves in, springs a leak, or rots off, which can lead to costly and significant damage to your home. Replacing your roof in a timely fashion rather than waiting until you don’t have a choice means you can replace your roof on your own terms without the panic of an emergency situation.

Enjoy your peace of mind moving forward.

A brand new roof will ensure that you and your home are protected from the elements, animals seeking shelter, and even mold and mildew. An old, worn-out roof is prone to leaks, bug and animal infestations, and mold and mildew growth. On top of being a smarter financial decision, opting to replace your roof can even help protect your health by keeping your home comfortable, dry, and sealed against the elements.

I like how you mentioned that if you wait to repair your roof until you’re forced to you’ll run into a panic from the emergency situation. People who don’t want to get stressed about an unexpected roof repair or replacement should consider replacing their roof before an incident happens. Thank you for this perspective on roof replacement and why it’s a good idea to do it before disaster strikes.

I’m glad that you mentioned that a new roof can increase your resale value. I would think that would help pay for the repair. Hopefully, it could potentially make you a bit of money.

Before reading this, I didn’t realize air flows in and out of your home a lot more with older roofs. My house is at least twenty-five years old, and I’m tired of paying for increased energy bills. I’ll have to look into roof remodeling.

Thanks for listing the benefits of residential roof replacement. After seeing a lot of leaks from my roof, I’ve decided to have it replaced before summer season ends. I like what you said that having my roof replaced will provide my home with better insulation. Perhaps, I shall then hire a reliable and experienced contractor to offer me with a durable material.

Water damage can absolutely decrease Your Home’s resell Value. When it comes to the resell value that your home accumulates, nothing can destroy it faster or more thoroughly than water damage. If your roof is beyond its useful life then you should replace it before you sell. Anything less cut and dried will require additional consideration into the level of repair, cost, market conditions, comparable sales, and how quickly you want to sell.
